Hello and welcome! Broad Shoulders Brewing is happy to announce the opening of our very own brewery.

Broad Shoulders will be joining the Chicago Craft Beer scene with a unique variety of high quality, small batch brews created by our Head Brewer Frank Lassandrello.

We at Broad Shoulders Brewing are very excited to be located in the Motor Row neighborhood of the South Loop, at 2337 South Michigan Avenue. We are happy to be bringing a brewery to a new Southside neighborhood. Broad Shoulders will be brewing both ales and lagers, with a stronger focus on traditional and experimental lager styles. The brewery will have a large tasting room and bar. We invite you to come in and sample our beers. There will also be packaged beer sales on premise. Look for us next summer on draft at some traditionally known beer bars, and some new locations on the Southside and around the city.

Note from the Brewer:

Hello everyone, my name is Frank Lassandrello, and I am the Head Brewer at Broad Shoulders Brewing. Some of you in the Chicago beer community may remember me from my time with Goose Island. I would like to use this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who don't know me.

After returning to home from college, I got a part time job as the brewer's assistant at the Goose Island Clyborn Brew Pub in the Spring of 2004. After a lot of floor scrubbing, I was promoted to the Fulton Street Brewery where I began to learn all aspects of the brewing process. It was during that period that I was given the opportunity to attend the Siebel Institute and World Brewing Academy, where I received the brewing theory to back up my hands on experience.

After leaving Goose Island in 2008, I became the Quality Control Manager at Lake Front Brewery in Milwaukee where I was responsible for implementing quality control procedures and assisting with product development.

I had the privilege to judge at the Great American Beer Festival in 2009. After that I left Lakefront to begin working on the Broad Shoulders project.

I currently live in Bucktown with my wife Elizabeth and my daughter Ophelia. I've been looking forward to this project for years, and I can't wait to get brewing in the new facility.
